Santa Monica, CA (Hollywood Today) 3/20/14 – Held on the Saturday before the Oscars (March 1) in the traditional tent on the beach in Santa Monica, in spite of the rain. It was beautiful at the beach, surf high and awardees even more so. The weather started rolling in about the time the awards ended.
The show hosted by Patton Oswald celebrates the independent film makers and helps promote these films to a world-wide audience. This award show also serves as a fundraiser for Film Independent, so they can continue supporting the independent film makers and their projects.

The Official Presenter Gift Lounge backstage acted as a press room as well. The dimly lit tent tour started with a whole carton of Breyers Gelato Indulgences. Cate Blanchett, who had just won the award for Best Actress, dashed into the lounge, grabbed herself a little something before heading back to the main tent to catch the rest of the show. The next stop was your choice of red and white Dark Horse Wine continuing on New Balance, Sabra and the DJI Phantom 2 Vision flying camera.

Rosario Dawson and her Mother had themselves a great time attending the Breyers Gelato Indulgences backstage gift lounge. Rosario started off my handing a glass of Dark Horse wine to Caitrin Rogers, producer of 20 Feet from Stardom, who had won the Best Documentary Award that night. Rosario Dawson told Caitrin Rogers that she deserves a drink because of her work is “so dope and put me in tears.” Rogers was engrossed in a flying lesson from the makers of DJI Phantom 2 Vision flying camera and was intriguing to her because she is working on a documentary to teach girls to surf in Sierra Leone.

Angela Bassett, vixen from American Horror Story, also stopped by the Breyers Gelato Indulgences gift lunch backstage and talked about her perfect date night, “being comfy in my pj’s with snacks that are a little sweet, a little salty and a little crunchy.” After winning herself a crystal decanter and a year’s supply of wine from Dark Horse Wine, she joked that the wine would only last her six months.

Elisabeth Röhm , American Hustle actress visited the Dark Horse Wine bar backstage at the Spirit Awards. She played Plinko and dished about her perfect date night with Breyers Gelato Indulgences, it is important to “make time” for your significant other and not be overly extravagant: “A pint of ice cream is a good start.” She also checked out the New Balance Fresh Foam 980 sneakers and chatted with John Waters while munching on veggies and Sabra hummus and checking out the DJI Phantom 2 Vision flying camera.
