Iraqi Filmmakers Find Their Voice

Nina Davenport’s very much in-the-now, metaphorical Iraq War film Operation Filmmaker, which began shooting in 2004, continued for about a year and a half, was finished editing in 2007, and then released to theaters in summer 2008. The film was intended as a snapshot of its moment, and became both more and less than that.

Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 12/15/08 – Despite the ongoing struggle to stabilize Iraq, a new generation of filmmakers is emerging from the shadow of Saddam Hussein’s fallen regime with the help of the international community.
