Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 1/10/17 – The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Graham Nash, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Bob Dylan. What do they all have in common? Photographer extraordinaire Alec Byrne.
Byrne has just released an amazing book LONDON ROCK: The unseen Archive. The book contains more than 250 pages of gorgeous and historic Rock N Roll photography. Studio and location portraits as well as concert photographs. Also many behind the scene rock n roll photos of swinging London.
Starting at the tender age of 17 Byrne began his odyssey while living in London in 1966. He eventually moved to Los Angeles in the mid 1970s and these photographs haven’t been seen in public for almost 40 years!
Graham Nash said in part “These images are physical proof of that pervading feeling of joy mixed with bravado, vision, and soul.” The book is encased in a beautiful yellow and red box. Similar to the boxes that used to contain photographic paper. Yes, remember having to print photographs in a darkroom? At seven and a half pounds the book is worth every bit of the $95 price.
Alec Byrne will be signing copies of this amazing book at Book Soup at 3pm on Saturday January 20. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to meet one of the world’s truly historic photographers.
Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 12/28/17 – I had the honor of photographing Don Henley many, many times including on his building The Perfect Beast Tour, and the Eagles Reunion Tour. Throughout his life he has been a leading voice in preserving nature. He recently made a $100,000 contribution to Let’s Buy A Mountain. He made the donation in honor of his good friend Glenn Frey. Glenn is greatly missed and I’m proud I got to photograph him on the reunion tour and The Allnighter Tour. Continue reading “Laurel Canyon community gives a holiday gift to the world!”
